Nicole Young ’15 earns two honors at North Central College

Nicole Young ’15, daughter of Steve and Donna Young of Plainfield, was awarded the Outstanding Major in Writing and Outstanding Service to Student Life awards during Honors Day in May at North Central College.
Nicole, who graduated from North Central College in June, majored in English writing and sociology. She is a graduate of Plainfield Central High School.
Nicole served as a tutor at the College’s Writing Center and consistently earned honors on the College’s Dean’s List.
After enrolling at North Central, Nicole joined Community United Methodist Church in Naperville and served in its children’s ministry and on mission trips to Honduras. She was actively involved in planning campus worship services and participated in service projects. Nicole held leadership roles in the College’s New Beginnings summer ministry, serving with other students at churches throughout the region. She attended the Ecumenical Advocacy Days 2013 National Gathering in Washington, D.C., was president of the student-run Focus worship group and a staff member with North Central’s Residence Life program.
She is pursuing a career in ministry and ordination through the United Methodist Church and has been accepted to seminary at Boston University on a full scholarship.
