Rachel West earns Outstanding Major in Forensics Award at North Central College

Rachel West ’16, daughter of Shundarae West of Aurora, was awarded the Outstanding Major in Forensics Award during Honors Day in May at North Central College.
Rachel, who plans to graduate from North Central College in 2016, is majoring in music education. She is a graduate of Waubonsie Valley High School.
Rachel has participated in a variety of vocal recitals presented by the College. She presented at a TEDx event hosted by the College about students recognizing advantages for their future careers. She is a member of the North Central College Forensics Club, where she helped the team take home 12 awards at the 2013 Illinois Intercollegiate Forensics Association State Tournament (IIFA). She also took a Sankofa Experience Verandah course and traveled across Alabama and Tennessee to explore historical sites from the civil rights movement. She has consistently earned honors on the College’s Dean’s List.
