Perry Hamalis, North Central College Cecelia Schneller Mueller Professor of Religion and associate professor of religious studies, was awarded a 12-month Fulbright Teaching and Research Fellowship with the United Graduate School of Theology at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. His service as a Fulbright Fellow began in August 2015 and runs through July 2016.
Hamalis created a blog, titled “From Heart, Mind, and Seoul,” at hamalisseouladventure.wordpress.com where he shares his academic and cultural experiences, images of campus and the community, and impressions of Korean life. All are invited to check it out.
Selected by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and the Korean-American Educational Commission, he is teaching, doing research and serving as a “scholarly ambassador” to the Korean people. His Fulbright research examines some of the implications of Korea’s 2013 hosting of the World Council of Churches General Assembly upon the status and social teachings of the Orthodox Church in Korea.
