The Publicity Club of Chicago (PCC) has awarded North Central College senior Kevin Driscoll its top scholarship award. Only three local public relations-focused students received scholarships from PCC and Driscoll won the highest award at $1,000.

Driscoll, of Lemont, received the award—which represents the PCC’s “commitment to supporting the next generation of talented public relations professionals”—at its December luncheon meeting.

An interactive media studies: convergent media major and Dean’s List scholar, Driscoll is a founding member of North Central’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter.

“My experience at North Central, particularly with my major, has given me a wide range of skills that are becoming increasingly important in our digital-centric world,” he says. “The introduction of the PRSSA affiliate board as a student organization has provided exceptional insight into the lives of public relations professionals.”

Through his involvement in the College’s new PRSSA chapter, Driscoll has experienced networking and hands-on learning in Chicago. His growing success in public relations is driven by a desire to make a positive contribution to society.

“I’m interested in public relations because of its unique ability to connect organizations with their stakeholders and align organizational goals with public interests,” says Driscoll. “My dream after graduation is to work at a public relations agency in Chicago, melding the need for corporate social responsibility with the effectiveness of social media for a variety of clients.”
