Through the years, North Central students have served stateside and overseas from South Carolina and New York City to Haiti and Kenya thanks to the student organization BREAKAWAY. BREAKAWAY plans and implements these service trips in an effort to foster educational, cultural and spiritual growth opportunities for students as individuals and as teams involved in these life-changing experiences. For spring break 2016, students will participate in one of four BREAKAWAY trips: Denver (Center for Student Missions), Detroit (Motown Mission), Franklin, W.V. (Habitat for Humanity) and Wilmington, N.C. (Habitat for Humanity).

This year, you can tag along with students on the Denver BREAKAWAY trip in an Instagram Takeover Saturday, March 19 through Saturday, March. 26. They will work with the Center for Student Missions organization to learn the history of Five Points neighborhood, prepare and serve meals at the Lawrence Street Shelter, experience a poverty simulation, hike through the mountains and more.

To join in on their service experience, follow @NorthCentralCollege on Instagram, where graduate assistant Stephanie Snyder ’15 will document pinnacle moments in Denver. She will also share posts from the three other BREAKAWAY trips.

Students, staff and faculty taking part on all of the BREAKAWAY trips are invited to share photos using the #BeCentral and #NCServe16 hashtags for an opportunity to be featured on the College’s Instagram account.
