Madormo signs contract for new book series, continues to speak for Charlie Collier series
May 11, 2016
John Madormo, North Central College assistant professor of broadcast communication and general manager for WONC-FM 89.1, signed a contract for another middle-grade series of books with mid-size publisher Zumaya Publications in Austin, Texas. Titled “The Adventures of Rutherford, Canine Comic,” the new series tells the story of a basset hound who always dreams of becoming a watchdog, but must settle for the life of a stand-up comedian. The first book will debut in 2017.
This new series comes on the heels of Madormo’s worldwide success of the Charlie Collier Snoop for Hire series of three books with Penguin Books for Young Readers. The first book in the Charlie Collier series, titled “The Homemade Stuffing Caper,” was chosen by a library in Alberta, Canada, as its novel for the year and Grade Five Reading Challenge. Students in the local elementary schools will Skype online with Madormo on May 31 in a Jeopardy-style challenge.
Madormo also recently spent a full day giving workshops to all elementary grade levels at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School in Darien. Students learned about the different parts of an interesting story and tips on how to keep readers engaged.
