Meet Cynthia Ramos '20

Jun 26, 2017

Balancing class, homework, friends, sports, music, student clubs, service work, healthy meals AND sleep is one of the biggest challenges of college life.

Busy students thrive when they find ways to stay organized and make every minute count. They make their academics their primary focus—and then build a schedule and set their priorities to accomplish everything they want to do during their college years.

We talked to Cynthia Ramos ’20 and asked her to describe a typical day’s activities.

During spring term, Cynthia’s day started with her 8 a.m. IDS 125 (First-Year Seminar) course, followed by a homework break, then attending her Biology 108 course at 2:40 p.m. and dinner at Kaufman Dining Hall. Her day ended with a two-hour Color Guard practice.

Cynthia began college by marching in the color guard with the Cardinal Athletic Band. She became involved with Raza Unida, a Hispanic/ Latino student group, and Cardinal First Fridays, which supports first generation students. She hopes to be a bilingual elementary school teacher.

Her advice to new students:

“Get adjusted to college life and then add the activities you want to explore.”

“Focus on scheduling and avoid procrastination.”
