Kevin McCarthy serves North Central College as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. McCarthy oversees all aspects of residence life, campus safety, counseling, medical services, and student conduct. McCarthy also serves as the chair of the College’s Behavioral Intervention Team and acts as a point person for the Office of Student Affairs regarding Title IX complaints and investigations. In addition to his administrative work, McCarthy has traveled with students to Florida, Haiti, Germany, Kenya, Israel and Palestine, and Guatemala as support staff on service and short-term study abroad experiences.
McCarthy joined North Central College in 2007 as an Area Hall Director. Before being promoted to Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, he held positions as the Director of Residence Life, Assistant Dean of Students, Associate Dean of Student and served the College as the Acting Title IX Coordinator.
McCarthy received his undergraduate degree in psychology and interpersonal communications from Alma College in Michigan and completed his Master’s degree in liberal studies at North Central College in 2010.
