Mary Clinkenbeard earned her PhD in the Professional and Technical Writing Program at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Her research addresses issues of agency and interdependence in human-technology interactions. Her current project explores how families whose children have complex communication needs learn to integrate augmentative and alternative communication technologies into their everyday interactions. Her research can be found in Technical Communication Quarterly and Communication Design Quarterly. At North Central College, she teaches workplace writing, STEM communication, and linguistics.
