Dr. Maureen Kincaid, Professor of Education, served as the Department of Education chairperson at North Central College from 2007-2017. She has taught courses in elementary literacy, classroom management, socials studies methods and children's literature, as well as the first year experience course. In her tenure as department chairperson, Maureen led the department in the implementation of the edTPA and taught student teaching seminars designed to support candidates through the edTPA process. She also led the department through the redesign of the elementary and secondary education undergraduate programs around the new Illinois Professional Teaching Standards and the new state requirements for the elementary education programs. Maureen has been actively involved in implementation issues with the redesigned principal preparation program at the state level, serving on the Illinois Principal Preparation Implementation Review Project (I-PREP) advisory, the Illinois School Leadership Advisory Council (ISLAC), and as a team member on the Illinois Partnerships Advance Rigorous Training (IL-Part) Project. Maureen's research interests include collaborative leadership, clinical practice and teacher leadership.
