John W. Bischoff

Outstanding Alumni Award Winner 1974

Rev. John Bischoff was a United Methodist missionary assigned through the National Division of the Board of Global Ministries to Red Bird Missionary Conference. He began his career at Red Bird in 1940 as pastor of Jack’s Creek Church. In 1946, Bischoff was appointed superintendent of Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY. Under his direction, Red Bird Mission grew from three to nine community centers. He received an honorary doctorate from North Central College in 1961 and from Union College in 1971.

 


B. Lowell Jacobsen

Outstanding Alumni Award Winner 1974

B. Lowell Jacobsen served in personnel and labor relations positions for several companies. By 1964, he was elected director of Federal Tin and Paper Products, Inc., and the P. Lorillard Company. He was a member of the North Central College Alumni Association Board of Directors and served on the College’s Board of Trustees starting in 1962. In 1980, he became a Life Trustee.

 


David P. Rall

Class Year: 1946
Outstanding Alumni Award Winner 1974

David Rall was a cancer researcher who simultaneously headed both the Federal National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the National Toxicology Program. For 19 years, Dr. Rall headed the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and held the rank of Assistant Surgeon General in the U.S. Public Health Service. He chaired the World Health Organization’s Program on Chemical Safety. During a scientific career spanning half a century, Dr. Rall was a principal or sole author of some 180 scientific papers and the recipient of many national and international honors.
