Favorite thing about North Central: I love that students can dabble in a little bit of everything! No matter what your major/minor is, students can get involved in every department on campus. If you are someone who has multiple passions, then North Central is definitely a great fit for you already.
Words I use to describe North Central students: Well-Rounded, Passionate, Determined, Focused.
Where I graduated High School: I graduated from York Community High School in Elmhurst, IL in 2019. Go Dukes!
Why I chose to attend North Central College: I began my college search back in 2018 during my Junior Year of High School. At that time, I had a friend attending North Central and they encouraged me to check it out, particularly because they thought I would like the Fine Arts Programs. When I got to campus, I was so excited to learn that I could participate in both the Music and Theatre Departments and I didn't have to choose one or the other. On my tour, everyone was saying hi to my tour guide as we were walking, so the campus vibe felt perfect. To top it all off, it felt like the perfect distance from my home (Elmhurst, IL). It was far enough away where I felt in my own space, but close enough where I could still attend family events that were important to me. Overall, North Central checked every single one of my boxes for the perfect school to attend, and I never once regretted it :)
Why I chose to become an Admission Counselor at North Central: In October of 2020, during my sophomore year, I got a job as a tour guide. I wanted this job simply because I thought it would be fun to engage with families and talk about my love for North Central. The following summer, I applied to be the Campus Visit Intern within the office and got the position! Throughout the 2 years I was in this role, I discovered a passion for Higher Education and helping students make their final college decision! So, when graduation was approaching and a spot opened up to be a First-Year Counselor, I didn't hesitate to apply. Being a counselor allows me to make deeper connections with prospective students and their families, and be their #1 fan as they prepare to start a brand new chapter of their lives!
Favorite memory at North Central: My biggest passion is the Performing Arts. So for me, my favorite memory as a student was performing in Choir Concerts through the Department of Music, and performing in Plays & Musicals through the Department of Theatre! My top memory, however, was getting to Direct the musical Next to Normal during my Senior Year.
Advice to Students: You are in charge of your own happiness and success in college, so make the most of it! Take that class, join that club, work that campus job. You will never know what will inspire you and what passions you'll discover if you don't try.
