Thomas Dunckel began his career at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory in nuclear science programs, including hydrogen bomb development. From 1956 until his retirement in 1983 he served as a physical science administrator at the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, working on reactor safety and nuclear waste management. He passed away on May 11, 2009.
