Chicago Sinfonietta closes our IGNITE season with a salute of the many voices that built—and continue to shape—the American soundscape. We celebrate our nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary with red, white, and "Rhapsody in Blue," featuring blazing talent Clayton Stephenson, piano! We perform William Dawson’s "Negro Folk Symphony," hailed as a defining contribution to the American symphony. Dawson’s work remains a stirring homage to resilience, heritage, and hope. A Chicago Sinfonietta commissioned symphonic tribute to jazz legend and Illinois native Miles Davis in honor of his 100th birthday rounds out our finale concert.
