Last month, students and faculty in the Shimer Great Books School at North Central College took a trip to Mount Carroll, Ill., for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony of Shimer Square — a new mixed-use community developed on the former Shimer College campus.

This fall, the North Central women’s triathlon team won its fourth straight team national championship.
