Residence Hall / Recreation Center

Residence Hall / Recreation Center (ResRec)

All you need - in one building!

The "Res/Rec Center", combines a residence hall with a recreation center to preserve valuable green space on campus. The building houses approximately 400 sophomore, junior and senior students on the south end of campus. Res/Rec Center has been particularly attractive to students interested in an active lifestyle and environmentally conscious living.

Stay fit, meet people and relax

It will be hard not to stay fit, meet people or have leisure time if you live in a residential hall wrapped around a 91,000 square-foot campus recreation center. Inside, the residence areas on the second, third, and fourth floors are configured in "neighborhoods". Student rooms, common areas, study lounges, bathroom/showers and laundry rooms are grouped together around living spaces furnished with comfy chairs and sofas and flat screen TVs.

Easily reduce your carbon footprint

The recreation center features an NCAA-regulation 200-meter indoor running track, an elevated walking track, four multipurpose athletics courts, training room and fitness center that are open to all students on campus.

The building is also nationally renowned for its environmentally conscious design, earning it a LEED certification. But what does that mean for residents? In a nutshell, it means that they will use less energy for heating, lighting and water, reducing their carbon footprint on the world.
