Homecoming 2018 welcomes the Cardinal family to campus

North Central College’s 2018 Homecoming weekend, Oct. 26-28, will offer something for everyone in the Cardinal community.

Distinctive events for this year’s celebration include an open house for the Center for Social Impact on Friday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m. Located at 40 E. Jefferson Ave. in Naperville, the Center will open its doors during Homecoming for the first time. You can meet the staff, faculty and students who are expanding curricular and co-curricular opportunities for social impact on campus. Find out more about their innovative service and entrepreneurship projects, as well as how alumni can help the Center build partnerships with businesses, nonprofits and local and national officials to help address challenges in our society.

On Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m., the College will honor Heidi Matthews, interim dean of the School of Education and Health Sciences and professor of kinesiology emerita, with the dedication of the Heidi M. Matthews Athletic Training Facility in Merner Field House. Matthews has served a generation of students over 25 years at the College, and this special honor ensures that her legacy lives on at North Central for generations to come.

North Central’s Homecoming weekend also will include many annual favorites: the induction of six members to the Athletic Hall of Fame; a parade through campus; North Central football taking on conference rival Elmhurst College; a concert at Wentz Concert Hall featuring all student instrumental and vocal ensembles; an expanded number of reunion gatherings for various academic, athletic and extracurricular programs; a worship service; and the annual reunion celebration on Saturday evening at 6 p.m., featuring dinner, dancing and recognition of six outstanding North Central alumni.
