North Central College to Host Coffee Summit in Association with US Chapter of the Specialty Coffee Association

State-of-the-art Coffee Lab to Serve as Focal Point for Inaugural Event

North Central College’s newly established Coffee Lab will host its inaugural Roasting Summit on March 21, as reported by the Daily Coffee News.

The Summit will feature nearly a dozen speakers such as Jon Ferguson of the Arbor Day Foundation, Peter Kettler of Fairtrade International, Devin Connolly and Taylor Wallace of Cropster, Mike Ebert of Firedancer Consultants, Brit Berg and Sam Sabori of Intelligentsia Coffee, Neal Wilson of Wilson’s Coffee and Tea, and Mike Pioletti of Bunn. Open to current & aspiring coffee roasting professionals, summit speakers will cover a variety of topics such as supply chain, the artistry and chemistry of coffee roasting, best practices, marketing trends and much more.

North Central's new 450-square-foot coffee lab promises to deliver practical and educational opportunities, with an emphasis on sustainable sourcing and supply chains. The lab opens up a wide variety of applications within the multi-billion dollar coffee industry.

The coffee roasting event, which requires a $50 registration fee and is limited to 100 participants, will conclude with a town hall discussion for the US Chapter of the Specialty Coffee Association USA (SCA-USA) that is free to the public.

Roast magazine is among the sponsors of the inaugural North Central Roast Summit, along with Probat, Mahlkönig, Cropster, Hacienda La Minita, SCA-USA, Ikawa, Bunn, Visions Espresso, and Chemex.
