Apr 29, 2024

Over the weekend of April 11-13, North Central College teams set the mark for excellence in dance and cheerleading.

The North Central College dance team competed at The College Classic in Orlando, Fla. At the national competition which featured dance programs from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, the NAIA, and junior colleges from across the country, the Cardinal dance team won Division III national championships in the Team Performance and Jazz categories, and took second place in the nation in Poms. The Team Performance and Jazz routines were choreographed by North Central team members, and the team achieved the highest score of all Division III routines at the competition for their Jazz performance (92.78). Overall, North Central had their highest scores in program history at the competition. These are the third and fourth national championships at The College Classic for North Central, which won back-to-back national titles for Poms in 2022 and 2023.

Meanwhile, at the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) College Nationals in Daytona, Fla., the North Central cheerleading team took home second place in the nation.

"After just a few hours of watching and socializing with the dance community, it became very clear that NCC once again is nationally recognized for its high level of talent," said Dr. Jessica Brown, vice president for student affairs and athletics. "Our lady Cardinals had a strong performance and a great experience!"
