Chicago Sinfonietta ignites the stage with an empowered tribute to women who break molds, blaze trails, and rise—again and again. Conducted by Mei-Ann Chen, Chicago’s own Deeply Rooted Dance Theater joins us in an unstoppable collaboration, bringing two works to life through dance: Florence Price’s vibrant "Dances in the Canebrakes" and a radiant new work inspired by women by Shirley J. Thompson, Chicago Sinfonietta commission "Seventh Sense." We share Amy Beach’s melodious "Gaelic Symphony" and perform rarely heard music by Mozart’s contemporary, Marianna Martines’s "Sinfonia in C."
