Alberto Fonseca is an Associate Professor of Spanish at North Central College. He holds a Ph.D. in Spanish from The University of Kansas and degrees in History and Literature from Virginia Tech and National University in Bogotá. Fonseca’s research areas include interdisciplinary approaches to literature as well as the study of narco-narratives. His teaching covers different periods and regions, with an emphasis on contemporary Mexican and Colombian literature and film.  His work has appeared in magazines like Symposium, and more recently he has contributed a chapter to New Trends in contemporary Latin American Literature.  Other ongoing projects include the study of representations of transnational crime in Latin American literature and the publication of his study in narco-narratives Cuando llovió dinero en Macondo: literatura y narcotráfico en México y Colombia.
