Dr. Grisel Lopez-Alvarez is an Assistant Professor of Management in the School of Business & Entrepreneurship at North Central College. She received her Ph.D. in Human Resources and Industrial Relations at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Lopez-Alvarez’s research examines how employees’ social identities shape their work and career-related experiences. She has published her research in top-tier journals including Human Resource Management, Journal of Engineering Education, and other peer-reviewed journals. Her research has received the Phillips and Nadkarni Award for Best Paper on Diversity and Cognition. Dr. Lopez-Alvarez’s multimodal approach to teaching focuses on topics such as Organizational Behavior and she has experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students.

In her free time, Dr. Lopez-Alvarez’s enjoys spending quality time with her family, going on nature walks, trying new cuisines, and exploring the marvel cinematic universe.
