Ignite your week with a bang, with impassioned music that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride from despair to celebration: Pyotr Tchaikovsky's booming 1812 Overture and Mikhail Glinka's exhilarating Ruslan and Ludmilla Overture from the 1800s and Dimitri Shostakovich's moving 1937 Fifth Symphony. And speaking of revelry, this concert also honors the start of Maestro Peter Lipari's 25th season as the West Suburban Symphony's music director: All audience members are invited to join in the celebration at a complimentary champagne reception immediately following the concert, in the Wentz Hall lobby!
