Supreme Court scholar Madeline Derango received a full scholarship to attend law school at Washington University in St. Louis, where she will prepare for a career in government.
The North Central College advantage:
“I knew prior to applying to colleges that I was interested in pursuing law. North Central College has a partner program in Washington, D.C., where I secured an internship with the Office of the Clerk at the Supreme Court of the United States.
I owe my success in both my internship and my law school application process to North Central College. Its dedication to preparing students to be engaged learners and citizens was clear throughout my time and it was very easy to participate in a variety of opportunities. North Central’s impressive study abroad program gave me the chance to explore Spain and Japan, and I conducted research in China. Finally, through the North Central College Scholars Honors Program, I studied topics I was passionate about, and I completed an honors thesis on law clerk influence on Supreme Court dissenting opinions.
“I can safely say that choosing North Central was one of the best choices I’ve ever made. I believe that my experiences there not only made me a better student, but also made me a better candidate for the professional world.”
