Questions on Sending Transcripts/Admission Process

Does it matter if I send an unofficial transcript or official transcript?

We accept either to make your admission decision and share your financial aid offer. To receive your transcript evaluation, you may need to submit your official transcripts. However, we can put together an unofficial evaluation of your transfer credits anytime upon request.

If you choose to enroll in classes at North Central, you will need to send your official transcripts showing all final grades.

Where can I submit my unofficial transcript?

We recommend you upload it directly in your student application portal. If you experience any issues doing so, email admissions@noctrl.edu

Where can I submit my official transcript?

If you request to send an official transcript, you’ll also receive an official transcript evaluation. Official transcripts come directly from your previous institution(s) to North Central’s Office of Admission. We accept sealed paper transcripts, as well as electronic transcripts through Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, Joint Services Transcript, or Common App.

What information needs to be shown on the unofficial transcript?

Your unofficial transcript must include at least your legal name, school name, credit count and grades for each course you took, what semester you took each course, and cumulative GPA. If we’re missing information needed to make your admission decision, we may request additional details from you.

If I enrolled but didn’t complete coursework at a previous institution, how can I request a Letter of Non-Attendance?

We require that all Letters of Non-Attendance come directly from your transferring institution. You’ll need to request that your school emails the letter to admissions@noctrl.edu or sends it through an official transcript portal.

Are any other items required for admission?

No, we only require your transcripts. It is optional to submit a personal statement if you’d like to further explain your academic history to our admission review committee, and this can be uploaded directly in your student application portal.

Once I send my required transcript(s), when will I get my admission decision?

We aim to have your admission decision within ten business days. If admitted, you’ll also receive scholarship details at the time of admission.

When will I need to send an official copy of my transcript?

Official transcripts may be required for the Registrar's evaluation of your transfer credit. Also, if you ultimately enroll in classes at North Central, you’ll need to send your official transcript showing all final grades, if you applied while a term was in progress.

When can I meet with my Transfer Counselor?

Anytime! We’re happy to meet with you at any point to further discuss opportunities at North Central, transfer credits, cost of attendance, and your next steps.

Questions on Transcript Evaluations

Who qualifies for a transcript evaluation?

Everyone can receive an unofficial evaluation from an admission counselor. However, for the most accurate review, all admitted students receive one from our Office of the Registrar to help make an informed decision.

Who determines credit transferability?

The Office of the Registrar determines what coursework transfers and how it applies to degree requirements. They put together transcript evaluations for admitted students only. If you haven’t yet been admitted, you may reach out to your admission counselor for an unofficial review of your credit.

I’m admitted, but what transcripts are needed to receive a transcript evaluation?

  • I’ve attended one Illinois two-year college only: As part of the Fast Track advantage, you’ll receive the Registrar's evaluation of your transfer credit using the same transcripts you submitted with your application.
  • I’ve attended a four-year institution, out-of-state two-year college, or a combination of multiple schools: You’ll need to request your official transcripts be sent to our Office of Admission.

How will I receive my transcript evaluation?

Once your transcript evaluation is complete, you’ll receive information on using your assigned North Central login credentials to view your degree audit electronically. This is based on the transcripts we have on file for you and will be confirmed once we receive your final official transcripts.

When will I receive my transcript evaluation?

As part of the Fast Track Transfer advantage, Illinois two-year college students may receive their transcript evaluation right away at the time of admission. All other students will only receive a transcript evaluation when they submit an official copy of their transcript(s). These evaluations typically take a couple weeks after you’re admitted, but it can sometimes be longer during periods of high volume.

Why does a transcript evaluation matter?

It’s so important! Knowing how your credits transfer in to North Central is valuable information, and we want to be transparent. It’s used to determine what degree requirements you’ve already completed and what courses you will have to take here.

Questions on Financial Aid

How do I receive an expedited financial aid offer?

File the FAFSA for the academic year you’ll attend North Central and add our school code of 001734. Award letters are sent on a rolling basis starting in the December prior to the academic year you’ll begin. If you’re unable to file FAFSA, please contact your admission counselor to discuss other options.

Who can I talk with about my financial aid offer?

Your admission counselor is happy to walk you through your offer and answer any questions you may have regarding your cost. Reach out to them to discuss this important step!
