Career Launch:

Madison Jansen is a master of science candidate studying International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies at the London School of Economics and Political Science, an international center of academic excellence and innovation in the social sciences.

The North Central College advantage:

“The interdisciplinary nature of North Central College’s global studies program helped me discover my passions. By taking classes in different disciplines such as anthropology, business, and philosophy, I uncovered new interests and skills. The flexibility of the program also allowed me to pursue a Spanish major—a skill that helped me tremendously as a student.

Throughout my time at North Central, hands-on projects and research opportunities gave me the chance to gain real-world experience. During my senior year, I traveled to Guatemala with a team of students and faculty from the College’s anthropology department to conduct research for an ethnographic film project. Taking part in this project was a highlight of my time at North Central, and inspired me to widen my worldview.

After completing my master’s degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science, I intend to dedicate my career to human rights at an international humanitarian relief organization. My success so far is undoubtedly a result of the opportunities and inspired instruction at North Central. The invaluable mentorship and support of the faculty have played no small part in helping me achieve my career goals.”
