Master of Science in Nursing Program Receives CCNE Accreditation

Jun 13, 2025

North Central College’s Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program has earned accreditation by the Commission on College Nursing Education (CCNE). The accreditation includes all four graduate nursing programs offered by North Central – Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator, Nurse Executive Leader, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – as well as two Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) post-graduate certificates. CCNE is a national accrediting agency that ensures nursing programs meet high standards of excellence for curriculum, faculty proficiency, and student support.

“Accreditation from CCNE is a credit to our dedicated faculty and staff for their hard work throughout the process, and ultimately opens up a world of opportunities for our graduates,” said Dr. Kristin Geraty, provost and vice president for academic affairs at North Central College. “It’s an accomplishment that underscores our commitment to fostering the next generation of nursing leaders and practitioners, and to advancing evidence-based clinical health care programs rooted in the liberal arts.”

North Central’s MSN program offers students a personalized and interprofessional approach to nursing education, equipping them with the skills and foundation they need to become lifelong learners, transformational leaders, and ethical change agents in the local, national and global health care system and community.

“North Central College is committed to addressing the current nursing shortage through a community-based approach that prepares advanced practice nurses who understand complex patients and health care systems,” said Dr. Mary Groll, dean of North Central’s School of Education and Health Sciences. “Our program was designed to provide students with an innovative and interprofessional approach to nursing that is patient-centered, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practice. CCNE accreditation expands career opportunities for our graduates with the assurance that we are meeting or exceeding national standards in nursing education.”
