Sigma Delta Pi Honor Society

Sigma Delta Pi at North Central College

North Central College's chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, a national honor society with over 566 chapters in the U.S. and Canada, was established in 2009. The Spanish department strongly encourages students to apply for membership and take advantage of the opportunities that Sigma Delta Pi offers.

Sigma Delta Pi honors students who attain excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in the study of the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking peoples. They honor those who have made Hispanic contributions to modern culture better known in the English-speaking world and they encourage college and university students to acquire a greater interest in, and a deeper understanding of, Hispanic culture.

Eligibility:

Student membership, undergraduate and graduate, is based on scholastic attainment, character, and a genuine interest in things Hispanic. Undergraduate candidates must have completed 18 credit hours of college-level Spanish, Spanish 310, and at least one course in Hispanic literature or Hispanic culture and civilization. Candidates must have an overall academic grade point average of 3.3, and at least a 3.0 in the Spanish courses.
