Profile Picture

Laura Cameron (she/her) is a librarian who has been teaching and working in academic libraries since earning her Masters degree in Information Studies from the University of Texas in 2014. Laura joined North Central College and Oesterle Library in 2022 as the Academic Services Librarian, and coordinates library instruction for first year Cardinal Directions courses. She also oversees the library's overall information literacy instruction program, and has worked to establish teaching and assessment standards for information literacy sessions.

Laura earned her BA in English from the University of Missouri, where she also studied secondary education. She was inspired to become a librarian through her undergraduate work-study job at the main campus library, and was particularly drawn to the teaching aspects of academic librarianship. Prior to joining Oesterle Library, Laura held the position of Education Librarian at the University of Arkansas, where she was responsible for significant improvements to the Education and Children's Literature collections and secured unprecedented grant funding for spaces and services to support student-parents on campus.

When not at the library, Laura can be found listening to an audiobook, playing video games, or watching movies with her wife and daughter.
